Five ways to leave

The road to the south
treveres over gentlest of hills
along rivers and streams
where we’re shadowed by dusk
until we’re falling asleep.

The path to the west
where we walk against wind
being whipped by the rain
is tasting of salt
until we’re reaching the shores.

The track to the east
is mysterious, darker and black
with highway-men lurking in wait
where we hurry along
until robbed right before dawn.

The route to the north
leads into the woods
through wilderness not yet explored
where we sit by the fire at night
until the embers burn out.

The streets leading away
through star-littered dreams
where we follow different ways
lost in spacetime continuum
until we’re back where we began.

Today we are exploring forms with Laura at dVerse, with 5 stanzas and five lines looking att the five directions going away.
