With gentle brushstrokes
the Autumn tiptoes
hums on crimson hands
to mark on leaves
her amber kiss for equinox;
to welcome candle light
and soup for dinner
to whisper rain and wind
to cover us in fog
to rot and let us fall asleep.

Alphonse Mucha
Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse, the word is hum, and I went with an autumn poem. Earlier this summer I saw an exhibition about Alphonse Mucha and his history was really fascinating, especially his monumental work “the Slav Epic”.
Ohhhhhh.
THIS:
“hums on crimson hands”
Just too gorgeous. I want to be somewhere with a real Fall. Just beautiful.
Ha… yes we have started to get a bit of red on some of the maples… usually we need the first frost for it to come.
Oh! How lovely! You painted a beautiful picture of autumn.
Early autumn is wonderful… later autumn can be a real pain.
A very nice timely poem…right on time…autumn! And I am looking forward to soup by candleight…excellent write, my friend! 💛

Loved these lines: “to mark on leaves/her amber kiss for equinox;”. Well done, Bjorn.
and fitting for the day
So lovely, Bjorn! I did in fact have soup (pumpkin) for dinner…
May latest soup was potato, leek and Jerusalem Artichoke
Beautifully done you have captured autumns allure.
Early autumn is magnificent.
Such a soothing hum of fall.
It could be like this.
Soup does feel very autumnal. Your poem made me stop and think for a while as it has been so long since I have had soup or an autumn!
Soup is so connected to warm climate.
How beautiful – a lovely ode to the change in season – Jae
It is lovely
Thank you Bjorn

Early autumn is so very nice.
Your beautifully written poem took me precisely to its “amber kiss for equinox”!
equinox … from now on it will get darker.
I love this gentle personification of Autumn!
It is nice to think of it in terms of a person… but she will grow teeth and claws for later.
Yes, late fall/winter reveal a cold heart and fangs!
I felt the shift in the season and weather in your words. Lovely!
It is a time of change
A lovely poem
A lovely autumnal poem and image. I could eat soup anytime, but it’s definitely getting to be soup weather.
Glorious fall–your words capture her resplendence wonderfully here. And you made me crave some soup!
This poem soars through your language of beauty, but even so, the power of it is in the bite of that last line for me.
