My love for the rainbow
is not because it promises
a pot of gold
for me to grasp alone
but for its way
to cuddle young and old.
My love for the rainbow
is drawn from its showmanship
and how it shows
the colors braised
from blancmange of life.
My love for the rainbow
nor deflated
is neither bright as sunshine
as the unexpected rain in June.
My love for the rainbow
is about
the pride of humankind
in unity and joy.

Anmol is hosting at dVerse tonight on the subjuct of pride and lgbtq+. I cannot say that I have much experience except a few close friends being gay, but I am a strong believer in that everyone should be treated equal which I think is something I feel is shared by most people where I live.

A lovely poem, Björn, rainbow-coloured and bright! I love the ‘braised
from blancmange of life’.
Never been a fan of something all white… colors make it better in my view.
This is such a lovely verse and your symbolism of the rainbow works so well! I also loved “braised/from blancmange of life”.
See you around, Björn! 🙂
Maybe next Thursday when I host OLN.
I like the matter-of-fact and common-sensical way you lay this out. Anything less is unacceptable.
The first verse is so great- that openness to all.
Brilliant use of symbolism in this one, Bjorn! 💝💝 I love; “My love for the rainbow is drawn from its showmanship and how it shows the colors braised from blancmange of life.” 🙂

How wonderful it would be without all the impending violence otherwise!

Yes, unity through a rainbow, with its broad spectrum.
Your rainbow repetition works so well to bring emphasis to your poem.
Well done! Your closing lines say it all!
I love this! The final stanza is so affirming. This proved to be an excellent prompt on the day the US Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to protect LGBTQ rights. So very very glad.
If we eliminate any of the components, we lose the beauty of the whole. (K)
Using the rainbow as structure for your poem was most effective, Bjorn.
As the Brits say, Spot On!
Joy and rainbow–lovely!
easy to see why they use a rainbow, or it’s colourful spectrum, as their symbol!
Well composed
Yes, yes. I love rainbows for the same reason 🙂
A lovely poem. I particularly like the last stanza.
I love the way you express your feeling about the rainbow–and wonderful last stanza.
I watched two of my neighbours place large rainbow banners on thier homes on the first of June for Pride month…something I hadn’t seen on my street before. Progress.
the colors braised

There is nothing so boring as a place with people who are all the same. Good one, Bjorn!
Lovely Bjorn, humanity in unity and joy. No matter our imperatives, if that is not the root feeling at the base of our outlook, then we are merely doing semantic gymnastics. Your love for humanity, including us little rainbows, comes through always.
such a wonderful poem! i love your symbolism of the rainbow, it’s amazing! thanks for sharing❤️
