An unexpected encounter

Walking deeper into unknown woods;
she sat to rest.
where trees stood sentinels of secrets kept
that trolls knew best;
“Is that a rock?”, she asked and probing moss
it began to wiggle —
“You tickle me”, troll boomed from below
as the princess’ giggled.

“Look at them,” troll mother said. “Look at my sons! You won’t find more beautiful trolls on this side of the moon.”, Image by John Bauer

The word is troll, and Frank hosts the quadrille at dVerse.

  1. What a brilliant image by John Bauer and I’m so glad there are beautiful trolls, Björn! But then, mothers always think their children are beautiful. Your quadrille is so sweet! I love that ‘trees stood sentinels of secrets kept that trolls knew best’.

  2. Bravo. Great storytime material. Luv the image you paired your poem with.
    Happy you dropped by my blog

    Much🌻love

  3. Too much fun out here on the trail tonight! I’m still smiling at your Swedish folklore take on the prompt. I wonder what would happen if the princess kissed a troll?

  4. they must be kind trolls if they made the princess giggle, i was transported to a moment in childhood reading books with such creatures
