Kiss the earth

Have you sensed its scent,
how soft it grows with rain
how smooth its skin can be?
Have you listened to its songs
of surf on stones and soil?
Have you ever felt how much
the pull of earth, how gravity,
resembles making love?

Kiss the earth by Nicholas Roerich

Today Kim hosts the Quadrille at dVerse. The world is earth and you have to use that word in a poem of 44 words in total as usual.

  1. Welcome back, Bjorn! I admire how you’ve taken the phrase ‘feel the earth move’ and run with it, taken it to another, more sensual level. I especially love the lines:
    ‘Have you sensed its scent,
how soft it grows with rain
how smooth its skin can be?’
and the ‘songs of surf on stones and soil’.

  2. Yes, welcome back (check out Blackthorne)–your lovely earth ballad is rife with fecund phrases and sensual sighs; smile.

  3. Oh, I loved that alliteration of “songs of surf on stones and soils”, which gives it such a pleasant melody of sorts. The s-sounds are perfect for this sweet, sensuous verse.

  4. startling lovely and rich, fecund ~ for the images – gorgeous!
(clearly your words and pen are itching to slip right back into the scene, and are well rested, as I hope you are 🙂 happy return! )

  5. I love this so much, especially the ending, “Have you ever felt how much
the pull of earth, how gravity,
resembles making love?” such an sensual invitation to be present.
