Rapture is to
necklace syllables
to sentences,
to poetry
heretic cherubism;
to smile with beasts,
to testament
a book of words.
But rapture is alas
a fickle thing
the end of an affair
as footsteps left in sand.
Mama Zen gives us a list of words at toads to brilliance in 60 words or less at toads. I have used five of the words.

“heretic cherubism;
to smile with beasts,” – wonderful!
WOW! Did you EVER use the words, and so well. The footsteps at the end are rather haunting, Bjorn.
“to necklace syllables to sentences” – brilliant!
Bjorn, this is delicate and truthful. How can one not love this poem? I do.
Ah… but to had done it. Aye Bjorn?
The words you wrote sound so personal, it is as if you are talking about yourself, which is of course so much more telling.
I love the title and the image, Bjorn. My favourite lines in this poem have to be:
‘Rapture is to
necklace syllables
to sentences’
and
‘the end of an affair
as footsteps left in sand’.
‘But rapture is alas a fickle thing the end of an affair as footsteps left in sand’… this is so incredibly deep and poignant!
“Rapture is “a many splendid thing” as the song goes. I like the way that you used it as it didn’t really click with ways I had ever thought.
..
Luv how you strung your words to a chain of ennui bordering on deceit
Happy you dropped in to read mine
Much love…
Encompassing so much in so few well-chosen words.
But rapture is alas
a fickle thing
the end of an affair
as footsteps left in sand………..enjoyed your whole poem, however, I really like this stanza.
Super clever and wonderful art choice. k.
necklace syllable is such a wonderful turn of phrase…this is a really well thought out and written poem Bjorn.
I really love the last stanza. Excellent write, Bjorn.
You do string the best necklaces of words.
OH that last stanza, sad, true.
