Faking marterdom

It’s not from gneiss, those rocks
but diamonds, gold and emeralds,
pretending to be cinder-blocks
razor-wired brimstone netherworld.
It lends its sheen from bank-notes
green, it’s the clogged-up arteries,
your moon obesity, a scapegoat
blame on others, faking martyrdom.

  1. Very interesting. Björn. Not an egalitarian but rather an elitist stony structure forming

Luv that you have introduced me to gneiss

    Much love…

  2. There’s a staccato pacing to the lines that makes each one feel very forceful, especially considering the disgust in each line.

  3. Faking martyrdom: an awesome phrase. I tend to think of the crazy right as fake matyrs. When you listen to what some of them are complaining about, what they are actually saying is that they are not getting everything they believe they are entitled to receive from their country. It’s not that they aren’t able to make a go of it – they just want more … and some scapegoat has gotta pay for their let-down.
