When days grow longer moon turns pale
And winter fades as sun turns brighter.
At dawn the bay is pink with sails.
When days grow longer moon turns pale
The break of day inspires writers
When days grow longer moon turns pale
And winter fades as sun turns brighter.
Today Grace Hosts OLN at dVerse, any poem goes, and for me it’s fun to do a triolet. Great form, and a long time since I did. I varied the tetrameter slightly by ending every second line with a trochee instead of iamb. Come join us with any poem when bar opens at 9 CET.

Love this
The poor moon needs a tan. 😦
I like the inclusion of a few feminine rhymes (rhyming words that end with unaccented syllables). Allows for a less “sing-song” quality which is nice once in a while! 🙂 Also enjoying the fact that the days ARE growing longer!
I checked your tetrameter
with its likely parameter
interspersed with delightful trochee
iamb impressed, says me!
The day does grow longer…my days, begin bright orange, turn to pink…end the same.
I love ‘winter fades as sun turns brighter’ and all the colours turning vivid again :o)
Trochees sound hard to chew & swallow, brother–sweet triolet though–Spring seems so far off to me though.
When days grow longer moon turns pale
The break of day inspires writers
Love this!!❤️
I absolutely adore when the days grow longer, even if the moon turns pale. It’s still beautiful.
Great minds 🙂 I liked this, the moon and the lengthening days. I wasn’t aware of the subtle technical differences in rhythm, I just play it by ear 🙂
The changing of the seasons is always important when each season is a challenge in itself you look forward to the change as I am today thinking winter can’t come fast enough…
Wonderful! spring is still so far away but you and I keep dreaming on.
Yeah day break is a beautiful time to write….
I see that today, with the longer sunset and a pink dawn ~ Good work on the triolet Bjorn ~
NIce triolet Bjorn
I love this form -dawn is a favorite time of the day for me–and it is a good time to write-
I like the idea that the moon turns paler with the longer days and brighter sun. That made me realize that the best moons would be in winter.
“At dawn the bay is pink with sails” is lovely
I like how “bay is pink with sails” and “break of day inspires writers”…you certainly rose early 🙂
I thought that was a Turner – and indeed it is. Matched well to this pen, Bjorn ~
Oh, that’s nice. Long time since I did one, too. Hmmm….
Delightful
Nice, Bjorn; soft triolet and inspiring Turner.
Soft and subtle; daylight savings time is coming soon…love the Turner with.
Sweet and lovely, Bjorn. I have never done a triolet. Interesting form.
Your triolet is very melodic. I loved the image of a harbor dotted in pink sails and the line about the birth of light of day inspiring writers.
This was fun to read! What a catchy cadence. Thanks for the intro to ‘trochee’.
Not familiar with the form….that is the case for me for so many.
Love the refrain and it all goes beautifully with the artwork!
LATE to reading….shall not get to all of Thursdays before Quadrille starts 😦
You used there same line 3 times in such a short space, and yet, it did not seem redundant. It had a nice rhythm.
