The river carries silt
on its surface shimmers moon
at night while willow wets its roots.
The sea is brined with kelp
unspawned the salmon feed
beneath a hungry albatross.
… an estuary in creation.

Nice work.
I do love sevenlings. This one is lovely.
Beautiful. I like that I have to “dig” a little to find your three things in each stanza. I am hoping to stretch myself a bit today to make mine a little less “obvious.” 😉
Oh, I promised myself I would take the day off and then I read this and it’s so tempting. So well done.
I think you should do one 😉
Go for it Victoria! I think this form sounds like you.
An excellent creation Björn, a wonderful calmness within.
Kind regards
Anna :o]
Very evocative and atmospheric, Bjorn!
Beautiful!! Love that last line 🙂
Both poem and painting are beautiful. I’ve given up on Napo.
Gorgeous. Love your views on nature, Bjorn.
Love the line “the sea is brined with kelp” Nice mix of river and ocean imagery here.
I had to dig a little to find your three things too but I like that they’re not so obvious and I love the idea of the beginning of an estuary. Yes, that’s just how they start. Wonderful, Bjorn.
The ending is perfect, an estuary in creation by mother nature ~
I can feel the ecosystem breath through your poem. Well written.
an estuary in creation.
Yes, eventually it comes to that! A resultant phenomenon in the long run!
Hank
Lovely description of many things happening in a river, Bjorn. Well done. 🙂 — Suzanne
I like the connection between the river & the sea. Interesting take, Björn! 🙂
Okay, I do like this form….and this is beautiful! I love the word “estuary” — it sort of rolls on the tongue….and in this piece, it is lovely in meaning too. So very well done. The form is hidden in the beautiful imagery here.
This inspired me to do one. Hope I got the form right!
They say we, as a species, rose out of an estuary, dripping with kelp, only staying on land a little at first, morphing gills into air breathing; somehow your piece smacks of genesis; creative, complex, lovely.
