Senseless scimitars of shadowed words
Is it always black or white?
He pander hate for highest bidder
Politics consists of brandished swords
Is it always black or white?
what happened to the compromise?
Is it always dark at night?
He pander hate for darkest bidder
when truth’s are traded for a vote
there’s naught to say, nothing to consider.
Politics consists of brandished swords
cutlass arguments a-slaying
giving power to the tainted lords
A second entry to Mary’s Trimeric form at dVerse MTB, a great form with lots of flexibility. You can project your favorite corrupted politician on this poem, I also tried to add a little rhyme for fun.

I love how you’ve used the swords in this verse.. scimitars and cutlass.
Very fitting for most of the politicians. When it comes to gaining votes, these power hungry bunch of goons can do anything. Politics indeed consists of brandished swords. I agree.
Yes, there is too much power being given to tainted lords who are so much influenced by those high bidders! Great use of the form.
This is very powerful and the meaning cuts deep as a scimitar. It lingers in the mind asking questions.
I love the way you weave the words together seamlessly, I love this one,’he pander hate for darkest bidder, when truth’s are traded for a vote.’ Great job!
Love the intensity in this piece 🙂 Brilliant.
Once you start working with this form, fun rears its smiling head, & off we go. In that sense it is very limerick-like.
As our elections are also getting feverish here, I can imagine those politicians throwing caution to the highest bidder, and giving power to vested interests and tainted lords ~ Great work on the cadence Bjorn ~
This poem strikes a chord with me…especially, as Grace already mentioned, election campaigns are in full swing here in Canada.
and the US. Disgusted with politicians who only care for their own careers. I guess that about covers them all.
true colors of politicians are caught her…great use of the form….
So true–it seems everyone holds so tightly to their point of view that nothing gets done. I’m among those hopelessly frustrated by it all.
The pen IS mightier than the sword – though hate is not immune. Words CAN corrupt and destroy.
good look at that dark side of politics
A witty, very sharp, critique of politics as usual, Bjorn!
I like the way you wove some rhymes in. As for the message – would it were not so!
