A tumbled clown, alone
emitting choking bursts
of tears; instilling our laughter.
Behind his painted mask,
a sealing scab — a scar to be
it fills another open wound
with sounds of breaking glass.
Come fleece a skinless heart
he’s freezing.

Clowns are scary….
and sad..
You never know the truth behind masks…
“a sealing scab — a scar to be”–great line!
it’s like that song “tears of a clown”
never really know what is going on in the mind of the man
behind the make up…
i was a travelling clown once…
Freezing sums it up quite nicely, I think. A heart that chooses to no longer feel. A great sense of pain here..
Sad tears…emptiness and a painted face..does make one feel frozen and lost
Ah, we never knows what lies behind the laughter, do we?
Clowns are the epitome of denial. Perhaps that is why they scare so many,

Visceral and intense. It felt a little like watching a car crash – while a band plays on.
I’ve read that clowns are some of the sadest people there are. In some cases, I believe it. Well done. — Suzanne
