and evocative for so few words…
love sepia as a word
in some cemeteries, the old stones are white and soft, that over time and rain seem to softly fade – like the memories of the past
Awesome picture! memories shall always be hopefully!
Stunning – really strong with the picture.
Wow, amazing what can be conveyed with so few words.
Your grandfather? At first I thought it was James Joyce!
Ancestors
great post!
a real tribute
Bjorn, Lovely picture and tribute to your grandfather in only a few words. 🙂 —Susan
Powerful…in every way…
What a handsome fella!
The ancestor whose portrait hangs in my grandmother’s living room? He looks exactly like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. [Shudder!] Won’t be sharing his photo on the blog, LOL!
What an exquisite haiku 🙂
Love it – so simple yet so evocative.
I’m sure you can’t look at that photo without thinking, “I am part of who he was. He still lives in me.”
Grandfather’s Hand
Ah these old photos fade now and so the memories as those who came later forget their stories … very distinquished looking.
There is a fading of memories. I used to remember more…
I really relate to this lovely haiku and think about this a lot. I once wrote a poem with the line: as though, it’s kind of up to me, to summon forth their memory. I guess this what happens as one gets older – people age and pass away, and slowly there remains only a few left who remember their voices and their touch – and, mostly, the way they treated others, I think. That’s hard to pass down.
There must be a way to save those sepia images!
You then are as handsome as he? 🙂
