we huddle and we shut our windows
escape the brushstrokes of what’s different
as mauve is safer than what’s purple
we find solace in what’s beige and grey
and avoid what’s cinnabar and gredelin
we protect ourselves from differences
instead of sipping carmosin and cobalt
we consume what’s tan or eau-de-nil
so shut your windows and beware
escape the brushstrokes of this world

yes – only a few can lead the rest past the sterile colors of sameness. I liked how your message came through.
I saw those houses huddled against the onslaught of colour…
nice
shutting the windows to what’s different…ugh..it’s sad.. instead of embracing the world with all its colors we prefer our private grey spaces… cool on doing a second one…
kinda scary to shut ourselves off from the brushstroke…not sampling what is different…a lonely life is where that leads….
Good eye Bjorn ~ Its only now I noticed that the houses are painted differently from the outside ~ Sad how we shut ourselves from the brushstrokes of this world ~ Love the unusual colors here, smiles ~
So true! We really do. For some it is so hard to take a risk, be different, do something that stands out. I have to say the older I get, the more I am enjoying the “brushstrokes” of this amazing, colourful world. 🙂
I like this piece very much – the words dripping like paint from a brush.
People are afraid of colour. Beige is safer.
So glad you did another. This has to be one of my favorites. I’m a color freak and you have me needing to look up a few of them Nicely done, Bjorn. Makes me want to do another, too!
Good poem and picture, Bjorn. I like both.
I like this piece of work so much. Thank you for sharing with us.
I’ve never understood my mother’s love for beige (both literal and metaphorical). And now, when I find myself going for the safe choice, I try to force myself back into the adventure! A lovely poem to live my life by.
While there’s solace in the beige and grey amazing things can happen when we embrace ‘color’. Great message depicted in this write.
Like how you play with the colours here – interesting effect with the windows at the close too. Shut it and miss all the colours 🙂
So true, literally and figuratively…shut up in our houses we miss beauty of nature, staying in our own comfortable world we miss lovely colors of diversity.
A great job brush stroking in so many color in a world full of differences. I think I would rather open the shutters to discover the magic of the universe.
yes true, a garden helps throw the colours back into frame
Poetry that informs: had no idea what colour gredelin is: Swedish for lilac or mauve. Lovely poem/painting.
Thank you 😉
I really love the way you lavishly used those colorful terms…I had to go a little lighter, as I was not so confident! A masterful offering, on a prompt I really enjoyed!
Awesome use of color as metaphor. Love your art choice.
