Carpe Diem Haiku Special – Jane Reichhold’s “forgotten brook”

Today Carpe Diem Special is to write a haiku on Jane Reichhold’s haiku.

forgotten brook
running the centuries down
locked in rock

Somehow I get the impression of a glacier stream. It releases the old water from winters long passed. Maybe it’s just the scientist in me trying with a scientific approach-

  1. overdue – imprisoned spring – those two lines mirror each other beautifully. In keeping with the spirit of Jane’s I’d say it’s a major success.

  2. The first spectacular. I am being terribly presumptuous saying this but but for me “finally” is a redundancy of “overdue” and for that reason I get stuck on the word instead of moving forward. Of course that simply might be my “oldness.” 😉
