Carpe Diem today is classical Kigo Risshun, coming of spring. This is so close to my heart, but we are not yet at spring here. This little picture from of a pussy willow is from a childrens songbook this one is actually a lullaby.

Sov du lilla videung,
än så är det vinter!
Än så sova björk och ljung,
ros och hyacinter.
Än så är det långt till vår,
innan rönn i blomma står.
Sov du lilla vide,
än så är det vinter.

Sleep, little wicker-bush,
It is still winter!
Sleeping still are birch and heather,
Roses and hyacinths.
It’s still long until spring,
Until the rowans bear fruit.
Sleep, little wicker,
It’s still winter.

Wonderful poems and picture. Blessings, Ellen
Many thanks Ellen 🙂
I loved this … beautifully scripted !!!
Thank you 🙂
I so love that print.
If you google Elsa Beskow you will find more around the same line. Every child in Sweden still grow up with her pictures I think.
Very nice haiku. Winter makes me feel like sleeping, too.
It was my favorite lullaby as a kid.
Sorry. Can’t view your media attachment. Much is blocked and filtered from us on the internet in the US. Much love. I’ll see if I can log in as a Brit later. Spouse says he found a special software trick lately.
Teachers don’t get to sleep much during the winter, even though they would very much like to! 🙂
Scent of Spring Rain

Lovely post today. You had me at lullaby. When I was very young , I recall the pussy willow as a harbinger of spring too. Could not listen to the lullaby however. Banned in US 🙂
PS Loved your poems too!!!
It is probably banned due to some digital rights issues..
