Not another lonely night – Friday Fictioneers 100 word

My fifth entry in Friday Fictioneers. This picture from Rochelle of a snowy window made me think a long time about the winter we have in front of us here in Sweden. But a little twist was needed, so here we go.

The night had been cold, and she shuddered just by looking out. At first it was impossible to say whether the ice was on the inside or on the outside of the window.

Freezing, she realized that she needed him back in the bed for warmth. It had been almost a year now. And maybe he was ready to be invited back.

Ready or not, she could not spend another night like this.

She sighed and prepared for a trip to the hardware store. She definitely needed stronger shackles before releasing him from the basement.

  1. Love this. Nice twist. Afraid there may be another twist…for once he’s free, I’m afraid she will end up in the basement and he ends up in the warm bed.

  2. Oh my – somehow I don’t think this situation is as simple as she seems to believe! I’m not sure who or what he is or why he’s locked in the basement, but I see disaster coming – I can’t imagine why she doesn’t. 😉 Well written.
