Back from the country
back to school and later
under the streetlights
we’re meeting and greeting
boombox is blaring
jumping and stomping
down by the corner
sharing with buddies
we’re daring and telling
of conquests in summer
sunburned we’re bragging
of beaches and babes.
Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse, and the word we should use in a 44 word poem is jump.
And of course I had to include this song by Van Halen

Love it! Sounds just like the 80s to me! 😉
exactly…
Right with you there 👍
bring back some teenage memories
as I hoped it would
This song comes to mind:
Great one
So true, that back to school bragging! Most of it fiction or greatly exaggerated.
Exactly… tall stories
This one has such delightful nostalgia, Bjorn! 😀
From a time long ago.
It’s as though you stepped back in time, sharing every tiny detail of those dudes on the corner ~~ what life was all about!! A stellar write, Bjorn.
I never lived like that…. but one can always dream
reurbanization poetry at its best.
Indeed… sometimes we just long for those vibes
Well done! I like the song as well as the poem!
A song to always come back to
very 90’s core 🙂
Maybe even the 80s
I was oscillating between 80s and 90s and then settled for the 90s, because I was more sure of it ahaha
Your poem reminded me of the song, Down on the Corner!
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Down On The Corner (Official Lyric Video)
Loved the nostalgiic summer vibes Beaches and Babes and a lot of boasting ☺️
A blast from the past! Excellent take, Björn. I used the same song 🎶
This felt like a rap, or at the very least it should be accompanies by a ghettoblaster!
A great jump back in time Bjorn🙌
Nice image
a very young vibe poem
much love
Nice one, Bjorn.
I’m lucky enough to enjoy being close enough with my students to relive my experiences through them.
Nicely written Björn 👏
