Soft as pillows,
unbroken sea of snow,
free until
we carve our tracks
northward bound
week upon week
through white-out, storms
and april sun
snow both path and bed
until at last
we reach an end
to meet the spring.

A month from now we are leaving for a very long treck on skis through the Swedish Mountains. The total length of the path is around 1300 km (808 miles). We will mostly be far away from any communication but every now and then we will give updates on instagram . The picture above is taken from some the more northerly part and I hope for such weather.
Today the prompt on dVerse poetics is snow and hosted by Kim.

Oh wow!
😉
Wow, how cool!
Or cold 🙂
You both have such stamina, Björn, and brave to undertake such a trek! I love the title, the thought of snow as path and bed, the ‘unbroken sea of snow’. But such a wonderful ending, meeting the spring!
Up north it will be winter still… but returning it will be spring
I imagine you will be well kitted out, snug and warm.
As good as we can…
Safe journey and return to you both, and enjoy your adventure!
I echo what Kim says.
This is gorgeously rendered, Bjorn! I love the April sun and the idea that the snow is both “path and bed.” 😀
It must have been exhilarating! ❤️❤️
It is and it will be
Definitely 😀
Nice one
🎇much love
An adventure full of thrills and chills! I think you Swedes are a hardy lot 🙂
What is this “Spring” of which thou speaketh?
Your beautiful poem ~ a preamble to this wild and wonderful journey. I will be thinking of you next month, wishing you well, that weather cooperates, that it’s everything you wish it to be.
This sounds like a very challenging trek, Bjorn. I hope you have a wonderful time in the snowy mountains!
Wishing you a wonderful and safe journey. Carve your tracks with care and make an impact.
You have painted a bold and solid view of the snow and how to conquer it – and it is certainly good that Spring is coming – Jae
I love the meeting with Spring in the end.
Sounds like quite a trek. I enjoyed the poem. 😊
