Barely life

late September
dust moths
dancing
in afternoon sun

on the rosewood table
still life
but barely

a bowl of peaches
fruitflies
and a vase of drooping
roses

its petals
ghosts against
the table’s varnish

and the carriage clock
carefully measuring
the passing of time

  1. So delicately written, Björn. I love the ‘dust moths dancing in afternoon sun’ and the rose petals like ‘ghosts against the table’s varnish’. The clock may carefully measure the passing of time, but it seems to be speeding up to me.

  2. This is gorgeously rendered, Bjorn! I especially like; “carriage clock carefully measuring the passing of time.” 💙💙
