In the wake of the Midsummer frenzy, the weather has turned colder. Almost like the hangover a slight depression settles in my mind. Soon July vacations will come and the real summer will come. We actually went for a short swim in freezing water on Midsummer’s eve, but today the skies were grey and rain showers followed me when I went for a morning walk.
sound of rain
drumming the greenery
bowing for clouds

Today we are writing haibun on Summer/winter with Frank at dVerse Haibun Monday. Midsummer has passed.

I love the sound of the title word, Björn, but I’m sorry the weather isn’t so good for you. I also love the image of the ‘greenery bowing for clouds’.
I found it an apt word for the current weather.
Summer, for me, is a nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there. I’m sure the sunshine will peek out soon.
Sounds like the weather I had last week! July is around the corner!
A great poem! Please send some of your cool weather our way!
your poem fit the Monet vibe so well
A swim in freezing water would have been lovely today. It was in the high 90s, but felt like 100.
A “painted” haībun, that complements the picture of Monet v well. One feels the slight angst though….and desperate hope for July….
Björn, a beautifully evocative piece, packed with vivid imagery 🙌
Very beautiful 👌
The words fall like the rain, it does so mirror the painting. I really could hear the rain falling, stunning.
Björn, your haibun captures that post-Midsummer lull so well. I feel the weight of the grey skies and the mood they cast, softened only by the grace in your closing image.
Much love,
David
Our temps have dropped 10C since last week (33C to 23C), and now I’m back to wearing a hoodie. Love this haibun.
After reading everyone else’s depictions of incredible heat your haibun was quite the relief actually.
Ha.. it is either too cold or too hot.
What a beautiful haiku. It fits the Monet painting perfectly.
I feel the angst (and share in it). Though it is not cold here now, the “climate” sure is.
A swim in freezing water? Impressive!
