—when skies are hanged and oceans drowned,
the single secret will still be man
e e cummings
Below the somber flagstones
buried bones forgotten ash
While reckless shadows play
in absentminded hide and seek
Unconcerned the mindless sun
without a thought is hanged to dry
While fall is burning veins
of woodbine’s fingered leaves.
Let’s waltz, forget the rot, let go
and drown in ocean dreams again again.
Tonight Melissa has a with pictures coupled with a couplet at dVerse. My choice was to write to the picture and lines above. This is what the picture and words led me to.

We chose the same image, Björn; where I saw a wall you saw flagstones. I love the positivity in the lines:
‘While fall is burning veins
of woodbine’s fingered leaves. Let’s waltz, forget the rot, let go’.
Yes.. we need to forget.
“While reckless shadows play
in absentminded hide and seek
Unconcerned the mindless sun
without a thought is hanged to dry”
I love the perceived carelessness of the sun and shadows, Björn. That melds with e. e. cummings’ lines so well. And the drowning in ocean dreams “again again” is effective.
Thank you so much, I loved to play with words and image
Nice one Bjorn
much♡love
A fine atheist dance, Bjorn.
Indeed. Sometimes it is good to just let it all be and clear one’s mind. The rot will still be there when one tires of dancing.
These days there is nothing more to do….
Find the best in the worst that life has to offer.
A hauntingly beautiful poem, dancing between darkness and blissful escape, embracing impermanence.
Very evocative write Björn
Sun “hanged to dry” is such a striking image!
And I love the last two lines.
I always love the slightly offbeat view you bring to nature, Björn – “Unconcerned the mindless sun
without a thought is hanged to dry””
While reckless shadows play absentminded hide and seek. I like that very much.
I love what you saw in this painting. “hanged out to dry” works well.
Wonderful fiction
