Untitled (Cherita)

the snow

clinging
to his jacket

melts and
trickle instinctively
onto his skin

a waning moon
still shrouded
is calling farewell

as November
is dying

in ice

Today we are writing mirrored Cherita with Laura at dVerse. Form consists of first three stanzas with one, two and three lines respectively and then the same in reverse. No word or syllable count but it has to tell a story and be imagist.

I hope I did it right.

  1. I think you did it more “right” than I did. Think I forgot the imagist piece entirely. But my poem does look like a Christmas tree, so there’s that.

I like the idea of the snow having instinct, and the moon bidding farewell to November.❤️

  2. Another snowy cherita, and a waning moon, Björn. I love the detail of the snow ‘clinging to his jacket’ and melting and trickling ‘instinctively
    onto his skin’.

  3. Excellent Björn. Couldn’t tell you if it was correctly done but it certainly is a wonderful piece of writing. Love the image you created as well.

  4. Yours is much more imagist , Björn- I think I too missed that bit of the prompt – that first time snow melts down your neck is forgivable and novel but will the feeling continue after many exposures to it?

  5. We had the first snow this morning, only a few inches but a foretelling of what is coming. Your cherita is beautiful, an ice clad November quite the visual.
