No-thing

It’s not in its melody
it’s neither from violin nor timpani
neither from the woodwind weeping
nor in the cello’s sobbing,
but in the merciful silence,
that tantalizing temptation
of nothing

, right between the last largo
and the closing crescendo
that music truly dwells.

  1. I love the way you evoke the orchestra in your quadrille, Björn, while at the same time advocating the power of silence. Great us of alliteration in ‘woodwind weeping’, ‘tantalizing temptation’ and ‘closing crescendo’ – musical sounds indeed.

  2. I like the cadence and the sound of this as it is read aloud. What a sound-friendly and beautiful venue to house music! Looks like you have a good seat right in the center.

  3. In the gap, in the waiting silence where we dwell in desire and hope — that music should dwell there is a remarkable metaphor for music but also much in life, especially the spiritual journey.

  4. I agree with you Bjorn it’s sort of like the big deep breath before the wail! 🙂 ✌🏼❣️
