Bless you, night,
for the way
you let your
pregnant moon
seduce me in her
third trimester,
Thank you for
the moon-child
born and baptized
in the reckless sea,
Bless you night
for the sighs
of sleeping oaks,
for dreams,
for stars and
for the scent
of melting snow,
Praise to shadows,
gloom and dimness,
for the hope you carry
in your hands,
across the hibernation bridge
of winter solstice
let tomorrow
bring, with dawn
the brightness
of again a newborn day.

Today Grace hosts Meet the Bar at dVerse for the last time before we go on winter break. We should either write in the form of Kwansaba or write a praise-pome in the style of David Whyte. My choice was the latter. See you soon at the bar.

This is a beautiful blessings poem Bjorn. I sigh into the night with blissful dreams and hope for that lovely dawn, a newborn day!
My goodness this is exquisite! I especially love; “Bless you night for the sighs of sleeping oaks, for dreams, for stars and for the scent of melting snow.”💝💝
Some imaginative word combinations that really bring this to life. Nicely done.
Oh Bjorn, your view of the blessed moon as a mother to-be, soon to birth a new born day, is so wonderful. Looks like you used your night filter for the image which is so pretty with the white moon in a blue night sky.
A praise poem indeed, and a wonderful one to boot. You POV is creative, and your blessings so sincere. You have a “special” relationship with the moon, which blossoms often in your poetics.
great poem, an ode to the winter solstice, bravo!
an exquisite tribute to the night and moon, I especially enjoyed
“the moon-child
born and baptized
in the reckless sea,”
So beautiful, I especially liked the description of “hibernation bridge of winter solstice” a dreamy write!
Gorgeous sumptuous write. Happiest of holidays to you and yours my friend, and every blessing in the new year Bjorn! 🙂
Bjorn, this is outstanding! Your response to Whyte’s poems is genius and I love how you took on his style in your own way. Stunning and beautiful to read, start to finish.
So beautiful. Especially like how you talk about the moon and birthing. Love it to pieces. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed.
So lovely 💕☺️ Merry Christmas!
This is one of the most stunning, gorgeous pieces you’ve ever written. Brilliant work.
Bjorn, your response to Whyte’s poetry is gorgeous beyond my feeble attempt to find the right adjectives! Sigh. Sending Holiday greetings of good cheer to you and yours.
May the joy of the season fill your heart here at the closing if the year 2021, and may peace abide in 2022. This is a most difficult time for our planet earth, and a time of turmoil for its peoples. May 2022 begin the way back! ✌🏼❤️🌎
I feel this poem breathing and grateful
This is lovely, Bjorn, thank you.
Love this! We are indeed grateful for each newborn day.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and happy new year!
I really like this. The repetition of the “bless you” language and the pregnancy/newborn motif
