Stray me darling
dye me purple, dare
to swerve me
slowly from the grooves
of being common.
I vow to giggle
madly with the moon
to talk to trees at dusk
to follow you
away, away — astray
from the rooted furrows of
our norms.

Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse, the word is groove (or groovy). The quadrille has 44 words exactly and has to contain the given word as part of the poem itself.

I love the dare of being uncommon. This makes me want to giggle with the moon.
Ok, you KNOW I looooove this:
“I vow to giggle
madly with the moon”
Also digging the idea of getting out of those common grooves. 🙂
Oh the ending is gorgeous ☺️❤️
Another purple poem! It’s certainly the colour that marked a generation.
Absolutely luv this
“I vow to giggle
madly with the moon”
Happy Monday Björn
Much💛love
you have made me giggle madly with the moon tonight thanks for cheering me up
I want to be swayed too!
That’s the biggest glob of neon green silly putty I’ve ever seen. A fresh adventure away from the “rooted furrows of our norms” doesn’t sound half bad 🙂
I’m always in favor of the uncommon…cool, Bjorn!
p.s. Your video says “not available” in the US. If you give the name of the song and the artist I will look for it on youtube.
The band name is Atomic Swing and the song is Stone me into the groove. The band is Swedish and this song was very very big over here in the 90s, and very inspired by 70s music.
Found it. Good tune, and great lyrics. The title is perfect. I am including the link here for others who might not have been able to see it with yours:
Wow. That picture is perfect. Not common at all. Really enjoyed this.
The 2nd stanza vow is most enchanting. Just the sort of madness I like in a partner.
I so like the idea of getting out of those common ruts/grooves. Sometimes it is easier to say than do but oh so necessary! Enjoyed this very much.
Dyed purple & gigglin with the moon….Yes, groovy.
I love thinking of the speaker as her hair—“dye me purple”—daring the girl to get funky with her outward expression. 🙂
I prefer to dye my hair pink.
The grooves of common are so easy to ride in…. takes some effort to cross the furrow and live life your way!
Ahhh, love this!
You caught the gist of ‘groovy’ and delineated the concept so well.
Reblogged this on Reena Saxena and commented:
Away, astray …. a wonderful response to dVerse Quadrille by Bjorn Brudberg
He sounds like he’s ready to go! I like the movement of “away, astray.”
How wonderful to be led “astray from the rooted furrows of norms” and to be swerved
“slowly from the grooves
of being common.” Fantastic.
I will follow you. Even to those places. Loved it.
You had me at giggling with the moon and talking to the trees.
Dare to swerve me!!!!! Back at ya! Love your groovy Quadrille.
You had me with that first line! Love the idea of using “stray” in that way.
Oh yes….let’s leave the mundane as you lead me astray! Love it!
to follow you away, away — astray
from the rooted furrows of our norms.
Wonderful to be together even though uprooted from those that one is used to!
Hank
curious minds want to know…
did you stick to your vow? 😉

What a fun poem and photo!
