It doesn’t matter, mate, just count
and swirl your gal around the hall
It doesn’t matter if you’re dizzy
just count to three without a fall,
Be gentle. careful with the booze
in waltz you cannot lose a game
your girl will follow, and then after
when music cease you can claim
your lady’s party in your bunk.
So waltz along my friend, seduce
the girl and if tomorrow you are tired,
I’ll waltz the girl, she can’t refuse.

I host MTB in waltz tempo tonight at dVerse, the prompt went up early so just come along and link up.

A romantic and tantalizing dance, Bjorn! I like how you’ve used enjambment to dance between the stanzas, keeps the poem flowing nicely.
Sounds like there’s some magic in those waltzing steps that ladies can’t refuse. Fun spin around the floor, Bjorn 🙂
Well, either he’s a brilliant dancer or very arrogant!!
Well that bled over from my comment of my two left feet, I suspect the narrator is the one who’ll be dancing my girl. Brilliant read, thank you
What fun is this waltz dance. The last line made me laugh. Thanks for the challenge Bjorn. Have a good weekend.
I wondered why so many poets had already posted. This a fine illustration for your prompt, staying light-hearted much like the example you used.
Love this Bjorn, extremely romantic. A wonderful hybrid of a waltz. And the illustration is delectable! I attempted to stay strictly to the Da-dum-dum, Da-dum-dum beat pattern of a traditional waltz — to see if I could maintain it throughout. Not easy. Fun and challenging prompt today.
The art is amazing … poetry as well. I remember how dancing could lead to much more ~~ when I was young.
“just count to three without a fall,” you make it sound so easy! Your verses hold a mystical edge, as the image. Well done! ✨
Very nicely done… Staying sober is a good idea!!
waltzing in a bit of swoon here…the art work is beautiful
A delectable combi of poetry, how-to instructions, and visual art you have here Björn. Lovely read.
I came here the unconventional way. Was late for the Tuesday ‘Blue’ prompt and was advised to bring it over to Thursday. I did. Hope no one minds. I’ll direct you to my post which is also at MrLinky’s: https://selmamartin.com/court-blue-moments-that-arise-out-of-the-blue/
Thanks so much. See you again.
These are cheeky waltz lessons, Björn! But then, back in the day, that’s what young men did, danced a girl into bed.
Goodness me. Well written but well… presumptuous. 😀
A swirl of a waltz. Nice one, Bjorn. 🙂
‘Just count and swirl’ – ah, you make it sound so simple 🙂
(I’m referring to the dancing you understand!)
