You, startled shudder, worms and worries
that came from ash and soil with lanky hair
to put my trust in winter’s flurries
From moon and rage my eyesight blurry,
in milky shadows grows your crippled stare
of startled shudders, worms and worries
If I am dying what’s the hurry
to grasp for boughs, inhaling acrid air
and put your trust in winter’s flurries.
Night is dark as I walk out to bury
letters signed with blood and tears
and startled shudders, worms and worries
I send the rodent’s claws that scurry
across my chest and for your ears
a scream of trust of winter’s flurries
Your eyes are green, your hands are furry
please let me wake unwind my fears
from startled shudders, worms and worries
I lose my fear of winter’s flurries.

❤ pure poetic alchemy
So much to this . . . read several times and got more from it each time . . . 🙂
I love the rhymes and repeating lines in this poem Bjorn! It is chilling but still wise in it’s message. I love the unique and beautiful path you took for the photo! Stunning poetics! Thank you for joining us at the Sunday Muse! 😎
Stunning villanelle to complement the photo. The lines give me chill as winter flurries came back today:
I send the rodent’s claws that scurry
across my chest and for your ears
Brilliantly gruesome.
I like the darkness in this poem. The repetition creates a sense of anxiety. I like your monstrous/monster themes. There’s always a sensual element.
Want to hear this read aloud…this has that Poe quality of something creeping just around the ends of the words. Delightful!
“Night is dark as I walk out to bury
letters signed with blood and tears
and startled shudders, worms and worries”
Delightfully dark and rich…Love this poem!1
Dark and gruesome!
Your repetitions of the phrases ‘startled shudders’ and ‘worms and worry’ carry a distinct feeling of great dis-ease. The form is very well suited to your apprehension of the change that is inevitable. Well done, Bjorn.
Worms and worries… winter’s flurries! I’m terribly afraid, yet excited for the flurries. Nice read, I read several times and changed the intensity of the read, dramatically beautiful.
Good writing. Nice phrases and rhythm here.
Nice line: “If I am dying what’s the hurry”
Tryin’ to share some music… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lWWT_EUvl70
This is dark Bjorn, it has a nightmare type quality about it!
VIvid and evocative.
Nice rhyming words 🙂
Why Do I Frequently Forget? – Anita
That’s an interesting poem – very mysterious.
