The silence afterwards

This is not poem but a cloud
trying hard to be,
a dragon or an elephant,
and what matters most
is the silver lining
and what’s blue behind.

This is not a poem but the sea,
shaping and reshaping
with the wind to waves,
and what matters most
is how the breakers
meets the shore.

This is not a poem but a dream
hiding in the silence
after it’s been read
and what matters most
is that dream —
yours and only yours.

  1. I love where your imagination has taken you with this poem, Bjorn – a cloud trying hard to be / a dragon or an elephant!
I especially love the final stanza.

  2. Love this especially; “This is not a poem but the sea,
shaping and reshaping with the wind to waves.” Beautifully executed.💖

  3. Interesting form. I liked the idea that poetry is not something that is made, but rather something the is…. existing all around us! Just like our dreams.

  4. I love the atmospheric quality of this, from start to end – and find each stanza intriguing – and mesmerizing …. and I fall into this piece ever time I read it – savouring the layers in its simplicity. And I think the last stanza is might fine. An absolute pleasure Bjorn 🙂

  5. I like especially “shaping and reshaping
with the wind to waves,” Very deamy. Reminds me of words writen in an altered sate of consciousness.
