Slowly sipping syllables,
we’re sewing sentences to verse,
while watching as the snowflakes
gently settles into silence.
Meanwhile walking…
Starstruck magis seeking
stables and the manger
where a newborn baby waits
for myrrh and frankincense.
Still is this, the darkest night,
when wonders keep
the shepherds wide awake.
Still is this, this night of lights.
Linking to Gillena at toads writing poetry on slowly, and to hedge as a 55. I will continue to take it slowly during the next week.
You beautifullly managed to capture the magic of that night
Have a wonderful Christmas!
The opening alliteration really eases the reader into the peaceful scene you’ve created.
Luv the taste of your poem Björn
Thank you for responding to my prompt
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS
Much😇love
The first stanza is my very favorite. Great poem, Björn.
May this light shines on every one and hey! again very unique words you have used!
I like this rare Christmas poem of yours. It is peaceful and reverent. The alliteration in the beginning is part of the stillness.
A very entrancing cadence, with all the true feelings of those long December nights that make us long for a night of lights–thanks for playing Bjorn, and may the lights shine brightly on you and yours this Yule.
Great poem. Perfect for the season. I especially like the first two lines and “starstruck magis.”
Wow man, there were too many parallel events happening at the same time that my mind got mixed up!!!
Just kidding, it was a beautifully perfect poem.
That was beautiful!
Awe struck, Bjorn. Merry Christmas. Got my books last night! Just in time.
Taking it slowly is good. Happy holidays to you!!!
Still is this..still is this…
Such a sense of calm is imbued in these lines.
Sipping syllables….wow, I wish I’d written this. Beautiful!
‘Slowly sipping syllables,
we’re sewing sentences to verse’ – my kind of opening lines, Bjorn. Have a wonderful Christmas!
This is so gorgeous!
You, alliteration king, you. Love the rhythm in the first stanza, and the contrasting balance dancing in the last.
Maginificent!
Still is this..still is this…
I can feel the serenity in this!💞 Beautifully penned.
Reblogged this on Smell The Coffee.

Reading this poem gives me joy twice: First, for your skill in evoking images and emotions. And second, for the way your words instill the same peace they describe. Beautiful, Björn. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
sipping syllables. wow. happy holidays, Bjorn!
Oh that’s lovely. Particularly love the first verse.
Alliteration fantastic, missed it a bit in the middle, but the repeating Still is this, still is this will settle in me for a long time.
Oh I love your opening lines… I hope wonder will still stir us as we walk a world darkened by the rust of war and greed.
Beautiful poem. I feel the magic.
