Heartshaped

Can you carve
a heart
in such a way it fits
the vacancy that’s given?

Or should you leave
it beating lonely,
stronger,
by itself?

Karin leaves us with some outsider art at toads. I loved the thought of thinking about the impossible choices of being outside or trying to fit in.

  1. That’s my favourite of all the drawings and it works perfectly with the words married to it. A pairing that ‘fits’ on a subject of not fitting in. Well done. (Blogger is not letting me comment on Karin’s post which is frustrating.)

  2. Wow. This is really powerful. So good.

I love that first question. But the second stanza is very funny, given the way I think. 😛

  3. Wonderful poem; wonderful questions posed – and the picture selected seems like the perfect illustration, so much so that now I will only be able to see it through the filter of your poem. 🙂

  4. For a long time hearts made by humans were strapped on the outside, too big to fit into the cavity. Probably outside too as they were considered temporary. E.g. while heart repair surgery was being performed.
