When caught with jam around your lips
you touch
that pause between a heartbeat and
the next
and tense in halfway rigor mortis,
in the gall and wormwood sense of death:
you know
you’ve dived too deep again.
You drown yourself and plea:
“Forgive me darling, please”.
She nods, and smiles –
reptilian.
And you’re breathless, frigid, left to catch
a second wind.
Cause it’s such a cinch
to brush the vintage grime of words
from chest and brow;
and crush the window-pane
to steal her apple-pies again.

This is a lot of fun. Love the opening line.
Caught! This is delightful Björn
Someone’s in trouble! Is it the three little kittens? I smell a rat.

A respite that often helps to deflect from a likely disaster. Often faced this sort of situation too!
Hank
to brush the vintage grime of words
from chest and brow;…. like that image…
I Googled the meaning of the word; I watched the movie of that name – and I’m still mystified. But yes, I too liked the lines thotpurge picked.
This is absolutely brilliant Björn I love it! Not a very insightful comment but I am very excited and inspired by this piece.
I like the way you’ve the line breaks in this piece, Björn, for emphasis and effect, especially in the opening lines, which create a strong image.
I also enjoyed the lines:
‘And you’re breathless, frigid, left to catch
a second wind”
Hah, well, from the first lines I thought this might go in a different direction. Yikes!
Oh, great!
Your images, carved so perfectly, etch a poem worthy of read again. Luv your choice of the Salvador Dali enhancing
Much love…
There is an underlying sensuality to these lines.. and the imagery is so unexpected. I don’t know where your idea came from but this is a most exceptional piece of writing.
Most gorgeous phrasing Bjorn 😀 “And you’re breathless, frigid, left to catch a second wind. Cause it’s such a cinch to brush the vintage grime of words from chest and brow.” Sigh… kudos!❤️
I must admit to a little ignorance, though I like the compulsive sensuality. And the image!
