I’m tempted to curl up,
cuddle warmth, and wait
for world to metamorph,
to butterfly itself to tolerance;
but I realize that taking stance
works better than cocooning,
that chance won’t bring the change.
That after rest comes rolling
up my sleeves and work.

Today it’s time for a Quadrille when dVerse open up again after the Holiday break. I will be hosting with the word curl.

Great theme and a wonderfully inspiring poem! No cocooning 🙂
A pretty cool way of starting the New Year. We’re swaddled in snow.

Yes – we must strive to soldier on. Though we live in heart-rending times, we go forward in the knowledge that others – before us – have succeeded in turning the tide on dark days.
This is excellent, Bjorn. I couldn’t agree more. I love how you use metamorph and butterfly in this piece. ❤
Your poem is inspiring and excellent metaphor of new years 2017. 🙂
Happy new year Bjorn.. back to work it is for everyone! And a great prompt to start off too! https://thotpurge.wordpress.com/2017/01/02/the-first-word/
“taking stance
works better than cocooning,’
Yes!
Yes, take a chance, take a stand.
Love the word and have always loved this image! Yep — let’s curl up our arms, flex our writing muscles, and begin the dVerse year anew! 🙂
What a great prompt, Björn, and I can’t wait to see what everyone else makes of it – you’re a hard act to follow! I too am tempted to curl up and cuddle warmth – well put – and I like the way you’ve used butterfly as a verb. Yes, I know I have to roll up my sleeves and get on with it, but the cocooning sounds lovely.
I like the parallel between curling up and rolling up one’s sleeves.
I agree. It is time to get to work! Well done Bjorn.
Love your rallying cry! And the recurring butterfly theme. A great start to the new year.
Great message….good timing for it, too!
Oh, I do like the idea of cocooning, or hibernating (for about four years!). But you’re right, this is not the time for it. Happy New Year, Bjorn.
Love that last line break, after “rolling.” Makes me think of a magician (or Pres) with something “up his sleeves.”
Great message for the new year.
Well said! And I’m glad that Rosie the Riveter can inspire men too. 🙂
Go get them ! Love the pic !
Wow, I haven’t seen Rosy the Riveter in a while. Sounds like a poster anthem from WW II. Get em, Bjorn!
Sounds like part resolution and part call to action. Excellent message for this burgeoning year,
Yep, true stuff. I like this a lot.
Oh, this is so inspiring. Yes, we need to take more chances, take stand and fight.
A wonderful message for the new year, yes we can roll up our sleeves and be the change :o)
A call to action, indeed. Love this.
Oh yes 😀 love that fiery determination and call to action. Beautifully done, Bjorn ❤️
Quite so. Nothing ever comes from sitting on ones thumbs!
Yes, there is a time for hibernation and then we move forward. There is a lot to be said for curling up, slowing down on cold (literal or metaphorical) winter days 🙂
timely point here: if everyone just sits and waits for change to take place, the only change will be towards chaos. It is only through *being* the change that we can ever hope for positive results.
Fun take on the prompt. I like the idea of the world changing but it seems to want to go in the wrong direction. Happy New Year Bjorn.
Best foot forwards. Happy New Year Bjorn.
I love the idea of cocooning. Too dangerous though, I probably would not come out.
