Strummed on strings, perhaps it’s more
my drum that singes hearts
and sings with soil beneath my feet —
It’s earth, this night, this dance
perchance a moment or forever more.
You are my mistress, sister lyre.
The way you tremble, desert flower
breast or gourd, now fleshed for me
on chest my instrument, you’re more
alive than every girl I’ve ever loved.

That would be beautiful music if you played with those feelings in your heart for your instrument
Man, I love this! Especially the second stanza … the first two lines of the second stanza, in particular.
I also like that your title might hide, “My Stress Music.” Or even, “Miss Tress Music.”
I think this is pretty accurate, having known some quite serious musicians … my brother, being one.
(Being guided by Debi’s perhaps suggestive comment above, I think it’s hilarious that you wrote about your “instrument” reaching all the way up to your chest. :X )
I really like the way your words compliment each other: strings, singe, sings.. it creates a sense of cohesion in the imagery. The second stanza is dazzling – what a beautiful connection between musician and instrument.
my drum that singes hearts
and sings with soil beneath my feet — I had a great visual of earth granules bouncing up and down with the beat.
Nice work.
Gorgeous! “You’re more alive than any girl I’ve ever loved.”

Music can have the effect of mesmerizing the soul and one forgets momentarily the love sitting nearby!

W’ow, more alive than any girl you’ve loved!! I might say that for my motorcycle or my Mustang , with the top down, but for me not a musical instrument. Of course I don’t play, maybe a bit of piano and it’s too big for my chest.
..
Music, a temptress, yet faithful to the ear.
luv the passion in your music, “play on”
much love…
…more alive. Seeing this instruments up close really is something – kind of sad that most won’t be played again.
