Why is the sun so cold today?

I am cold, even though the heat of early summer is adequate. I am cold because I cannot find my heart.
Sebastian Barry from A long long way

I shiver icicled; I’m
haloed haled,
with Hel withheld;

I’m in your presence
frozen, promise shattered,
spilled on marble, lost.

Why is the sun so old today?

Today at dVerse Walt is hosting and have an interview with Laurie Kolp who used to be a host at dVerse when I started writing there. Come and read the interview, write your own poem inspired by the quote, or both.

* Note; Hel is the goddess of the underworld in Norse Mythology.

  1. Are you kidding me with this? Man, this is incredible. My goodness, your sound/word play has me spinning in circles. The turn in that last line is fantastic.

    You know, you can make ice cream out of snow. So maybe you can also turn an ice-sickle into a Pop-sickle.

    Sometimes the answer you need is in repurposing. Instead of seeking warmth, maybe you should just enjoy the power/”heat” inside the cold.
