A crave once carved on polished gneiss
with lips and hips you met my piercing spear;
your moan reverbs in rock, a memory
embracing we are locked, perhaps in vice
we’ve not eroded, and through the years
preserved is lust, echoes still with ecstasy.
Among the ships remain our mystery
we tilled the soil, we hunted deer, but yet
our passion shared, our love delirium
is more important than all toil and sweat.

Today in dVerse poetics I present you stone carvings from Sweden, I want you to use them as inspiration for your writing. You can find more pictures in my flickr album. The one I have used is said to depict a couple making love, and yes that made me write this little sonnetina…. Please join us with your own poetry for my pictures.
Beautiful
I’ve occasionally read/heard of millenniae.old fossils/mummies of couples found like that. It shows that some things will never change
A lot of heat in those rocks!!! As that wonderful song in Casablanca states, A kiss is still a kiss….the fundamental things apply as time goes by. The last two lines are amazing.
So much more is embedded in those rocks other than those carvings I think. You showed us a little more, Bjorn. I loved looking at all the photos…it was hard to choose one. Thanks for sharing.
Wow!
I smiled about the lust being preserved over the years. It is good that ‘passion’ still lives in those rocks!
Passion living in rock, quite the concept. The petroglyphs of the erect phallis seems prevalent too. I found another image separate from yours that intrigued me, so I’m thinking outside the rock, I guess.
Love the passion, preserved on these stones, echoing still with all of its mystery ~ Well I never thought of this angle behind the picture ~ Thanks for the lovely challenge and pictures too ~
L2-L4 is my favorite section … super hot and sexy
Wonderful sound to this one – lusty and yet flinty, so suitable for the subject matter. I loved the idea of the echoing of passion through the ages.
Incredible……!! Great job 😀
Oh, yes…as it should be…passion that makes all else pale in comparison. I love the sound quality you captured of their love meeting. Excellent, Bjorn!
Lovely.
The carvings are a wonderful idea for a prompt. Lovely photos! And as always the cadence and lilt to your poem is a lyrical treat. Thank you for sharing!
“our passion shared, our love delirium
is more important than all toil and sweat.” Spectacular: that passion … the stuff of all glorious human endeavor.
This is very passionate. I was going to write a poem to this one as well.
The artist really spoke to you. I always find these carving intriguing Interesting prompt. I may have to try another one tomorrow..
And on Thursday its open link if you don’t make it in time.
Lusty! It does look rather as if they’re enjoying a dance together.

Hmmm… that was pretty intense and profound too.
Very stylishly narrated of some raucous times together, Bjorn!
Hank
So many symbols of fertility – fascinating prompt Björn
“our passion shared, our love delirium” wonderfully preserved through the years.
