  1. The “‘Pearls of Aphrodite” in referring to snails, I always thought to be a rather strange contradiction in terms – especially when served as escargot swimming in butter and garlic. Delicious though. And when consumed with sufficient wine the snail thing (to say nothing of the garlic breath thing) tends to be less odious. Ha!
