Before the valkyries

The joss-sticks burning for a circumstance
when idler with the tinsel-eyes has met
again, his green-eyed mistress of absinthe
In riptides of emotions he will greet
the morning stars of this arrhythmic dance;
like nutgalls on a leaf, a stagnant beat.
But folded in his bluey — memories
of normal life before these valkyries.

  1. This is such a great poem – the rhythm and word choice creates an amazing resonance. The end is just perfect too.

  2. But folded in his bluey — memories
    of normal life before these valkyries.

    A fall-back on memories of old can be a real booster. Great lines Bjorn. Merry Christmas and Happy hols!
