The joss-sticks burning for a circumstance
when idler with the tinsel-eyes has met
again, his green-eyed mistress of absinthe
In riptides of emotions he will greet
the morning stars of this arrhythmic dance;
like nutgalls on a leaf, a stagnant beat.
But folded in his bluey — memories
of normal life before these valkyries.

Bjorn, A vivid description of mood helped along by the drink. Well written. — Suzanne
This is such a great poem – the rhythm and word choice creates an amazing resonance. The end is just perfect too.
Beautiful justification with the form!
What a challenging form ~ I specially like the opening verses Bjorn ~
Wishing you a lovely holiday week ~
A form to see in one of the coming challenges maybe
I love that line about the green-eyed mistress of absinthe. Wonderful!

He he.. You are right
That “stagnant beat” so effective.
ahhhh really interesting!
But folded in his bluey — memories
of normal life before these valkyries.
A fall-back on memories of old can be a real booster. Great lines Bjorn. Merry Christmas and Happy hols!

Nice… I get it now.
Maybe you’ll try 🙂
I like your use of slant rhymes. Well done.
Just made it before closing time! I need a drink! Well done. Thanks for keeping it up, it’s inspiring.
In turbulent times, memories of “normal life before these valkyries” almost feel as though they must be self induced in order to have been, at all.
