an autumn evening;
without a cry,
a crow passes
(Kisho)
A very challenging haiku, not only was the crow silent – but he has already left. We are alone in an empty silent world. This is the transition of September. I also searched for a kigo that had a clear sound associated with sound. Though nightingale is a summer kigo, its absence and the memories could work as well.
autumn emptiness –
as the last of nightingales
left a memory

This really gives that feeling of autumn – that sweet sadness.
You have captured that autumn emptiness in that haiku Bjorn ~
Bjorn, You seem to be thoroughly enjoying Autumn there. Well written. 🙂 —Susan
What a nice set Bjorn but your first is a beauty and really sensual …
I like this although it seems sad not to hear sounds of birds…soon enough.
I’d say they worked perfectly … in this case the kigo with the nightengale being gon is surely winter or fall.
Autumn is here 50 F or 10 C – this morning.
That in between time when the morning and evenings are cool and there might just be some heat left for the middle of the day…
Very thoughtful – the “autumn emptiness” pinned against the memory left by “the last of nightingales” amplifies the haunting absence to a mesmerizing degree.
