Carpe Diem Haiku – Kisho’s passing crow

an autumn evening;
without a cry,
a crow passes

(Kisho)

A very challenging haiku, not only was the crow silent – but he has already left. We are alone in an empty silent world. This is the transition of September. I also searched for a kigo that had a clear sound associated with sound. Though nightingale is a summer kigo, its absence and the memories could work as well.

autumn emptiness –
as the last of nightingales
left a memory

  1. Autumn is here 50 F or 10 C – this morning.
    That in between time when the morning and evenings are cool and there might just be some heat left for the middle of the day…

  2. Very thoughtful – the “autumn emptiness” pinned against the memory left by “the last of nightingales” amplifies the haunting absence to a mesmerizing degree.
