with pewter clouds entangled in my brow
in ash and molten lead – I have no clue
tell me how?
tell me how?
the sunbeams melting just for you
as ferry’s prow through waters plow
you bid adieu
a last adieu
and left behind – I know we’re through
I couldn’t tame you – smiling shrew

What a joy to read something else written by you Bjorn. I ran into this post through Magpie Tales. What a fun form of poem …
A nice farewell
Bjorn, I guess the taming of that shrew didn’t work out too well. Best they part. Well written. 🙂 —Susan
Lovely playing with words to create an engine’s thrum…
Got to love a smiling shrew.
haha, smiling shrew! and i thought you were getting all ferklempt. 🙂
Torpedoed Again – bugger !
Perfect! Good imagery, mood and conclusion. Fun to read aloud.
The sound play throughout creates a very melodic mood to this piece.
Love the lilting rhyme and rhythm of this ditty…like waves of the sea.
Oh by golly this really works for me! Perfect really for our magpie photo too.
Haha! Whether the weather, a sail, or a potent lover, this poem resonates.
Perfectly bracketed by your wonderful title and closing lines……….I especially love “the sunbeams melting just for you.”
Love this and esp the repeating words…
tell me how?
tell me how?
you bid adieu
a last adieu
Wonderful, Bjorn!
Such a flirt. 😀
A lifetime of living summed in a spare moment of words Bjorn. Good to be back here reading you!
“smiling shrew” love it! A little punch in melancholy..
Delightful
Hi Björn ~~ I like the concept, ‘smiling shrew.’ The one I married stayed 13 years before she left. After education and a wonderful job she thought she had “outgrown” me. 🙂
..
BTW, my first poem posted, at least to One Single Impression, was about an outhouse and outhouse etiquette. <a href="http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/2008/06/one-single-impression-doorway.html"
..
A poetic farewell indeed. Beautiful writing Bjorn!!
I loved this. The repetition, the rhymes, the imagery – everything. Beautiful poem. 🙂
Nice…I can hear this one set to music…
I chuckled aloud. I love rhyme and I love light poetry. Just a thought: you might consider submitting to Able Muse (an online journal focusing on metrical poetry that publishes light metrical poetry as well as other types). I, thus far, have not had any luck getting published by them – but when you connect with the ball (so to speak) in that genre, you drive it clear out of the park. Anyway, just a thought that came to me after reading this in-a-league-of-its-own delightful write. Smiles
