Smiling Shrew

with pewter clouds entangled in my brow
in ash and molten lead – I have no clue
tell me how?
tell me how?
the sunbeams melting just for you
as ferry’s prow through waters plow
you bid adieu
a last adieu
and left behind – I know we’re through
I couldn’t tame you – smiling shrew

  1. I chuckled aloud. I love rhyme and I love light poetry. Just a thought: you might consider submitting to Able Muse (an online journal focusing on metrical poetry that publishes light metrical poetry as well as other types). I, thus far, have not had any luck getting published by them – but when you connect with the ball (so to speak) in that genre, you drive it clear out of the park. Anyway, just a thought that came to me after reading this in-a-league-of-its-own delightful write. Smiles
