rowan berries –
only mischievous waxwings
find their sweetness
being intoxicated
falling from the trees
Sorry for being a little bit flippant here, but berries attract birds – and it’s not uncommon with flocks being quite drunk, after the berries have fermented.

excellent 🙂
I think you found a very good angle there – different than mere description of plant…to ”wax lyrical” about something is to sing praise of it,so there’s some fun wordplay there, especially with tipsy birds!
ha.
bunch of drunk birds falling out of trees
def a fun glimpse bjorn
this small package was a delight and i learned something… fun piece to read
A beautiful tanka Björn so in touch with the Rowan and its magical meaning … would be a strange sight to see the intoxicated birds which have eaten from the fermented berries of the Rowan.
What a funny observation. Do those drunk birds fly round in circles?
When I was a kid, every once in a great while the deer would get absolutely smashed while eating fermented apples. Watching staggering deer — an odd mixture of humor and pity in the scene. I can only imagine what drunken waxwings would look like! o.O
Loved the haiku 🙂
Funny. 🙂 —Susan
Oh my … what a strange sight that must be. Loved the image which is a wonderful surprise for me … never seen birds fall out of trees drunk!
