Resisting gravity & pining for the sky
but relentlessly the downward pull will
eventually uproot and release me
into those eternal waves beneath.
My destiny is sealed – but yet this spring
is bursting through my timber,
as my sap is raising upwards
to meet the perwinkle sky.

I feel the same attraction for trees and water. Lovely picture and words.
Thank you Marysee… It was a beautiful day yesterday, and I saw that pine tree resisting the inevitable… much like a human…
But what beauty in the resistance! 🙂
We are often pinioned between opposing forces. The picture and the poem are good metaphors for this. Nice work.

Thank you.. the tree was beautiful
This is SO beautiful. I especially love the periwinkle sky – and the resisting gravity!! Me, too.
Ah.. we are all resisting gravity..
you are such a sensitive soul
indeed.. 🙂
Lovely! And that tree and I have a lot on common!
I share some attributes with a tree like that too.
To me this was very clever in it’s simplicity. Your use of natural imagery is well done, particularly in the second half of this work. And I must say, I find the lines: “My destiny is sealed – but yet this spring
is bursting through my timber,” absolutely stunning. Well done and viva la!
lovely tree poem Bjorn
admire this pen, Bjorn; elemental ~
oh, I like this very much…nice work!
Nice, Bjorn ~~ I happens every spring. Our trees that support blossoms before leafing are in the process of blooming. Some are already, the red bud trees down the road. But not ours.
Thank you for the anniversary salute. And yes, I had a first marriage that lasted a much shorter time.
..
even if destiny is sealed.
we have this moment, this spring
this day to live
What a lovely way to personify a tree, Bjorn. Far too many are cut down in the name of progress.
Beautiful. I am so ready for spring!
