You should never mock a sleeping dragon
or steal the fireworks from wizard’s wagon
cause you might be lured into adventures
and confront you with the goblin’s dentures
You should never listen to advice from elves
cause they will only care about themselves
but trolls are never fearful in the sunshine

You should know of eagles in the mountains
who see what happens in the surroundings
they will tilt the scales and make you winners
and bring death to beasts and evil sinners
You should know of coming home again
that some is lost but so much more is gained
at adventures’ end you’ll love your garden
but dreams you’ve buried deep inside have hardened

Never mock the sleeping dragon, I like the start of the fantasy poem Bjorn ~ Those giant eagles were something else ~ After the adventures, we are all changed even when coming home ~ Happy Sunday ~
This goes tripping merrily along, and indeed is a proper song for any adventurer. I love the good advice about whom you can and cannot trust–an adventurer’s life can be a tricky one–and coming home to the garden is a lucky end for many. Nicely turned verse, Bjorn. Last time I tried to comment here, wordpress repeatedly ate my comment–hope this one makes it through.

And you should stick closer to the details of the story rather than embellish so blasted much. Whoops! That’s advice for Peter Jackson. As one of our daughter’s said, “It would have been a good movie if it weren’t ‘The Hobbit’ ” or words to that effect. Yes, we enjoyed it; yes, we look forward to the next one; yes, the story line was there…but it wasn’t really “The Hobbit.”

Ha.. yes I saw the film the other day… most irritation was with the similarity between the film and a computer game…
I walked out of the movie half way through. No movie would be able to do the book justice.

“the goblin’s dentures” – now THAT is original! I love it. The selfish elves are an amusing twist, too. Loved this, kiddo! Even the “hardened dreams”.

I like being an eagle in the mountains reading this poem… nicely penned.
Coming home after one’s adventures is often the best part of the adventure, I think. There IS always something gained through adventures, but sad to think that the dreams have hardened.

Advice for that one who would be a hero. You may go home, but you are never the same afterward.

That last line is really meaningful … dreams hidden inside and the journey home … this had a fantasy feel with all the supernatural imagery. Well done.
