Write an inspired haiku to Alexey Andreyev’s
evening sky —
over the city lights
stars hardly seen
I will try to stick to writing short haibun this month. I also stick to the American Sentence this week. As a matter of fact the one attached I wrote on twitter for the prompt word travel.
As we walked together to the the theater our eyes where constantly distracted from each other by corporations delivering messages on where we should spend our money. Finally I took your hand and we walked together to the station and took an empty train to a random end-station where the moon could talk to us while the city just whispered in the background.
A silent moon traveled unnoticed between advertising floodlights.

A great collection Björn. I particularly liked the haibun, especially that end sentence – “…. where the moon could talk to us while the city just whispered in the background.”
Thank you.. It means a lot to me.
I’m loving your American sentences! The NYC photo is great here
very nice B 🙂
So very true….when there are city lights, one often cannot see the stars above & can so easily forget they are even there.
Awesome … I have to learn more about the American Sentences.
Actually they where invented inspired by haiku. We did it at dVerse a few weeks ago, and Gay Cannon wrote an excellent article on it.
My idea to combine it with haibun text is a style I think I might be the first to have done. I have done a few… and it’s a style I intend to explore. It might even be a style in my first book I’m thinking about.
I have read it … will try it soon.
So much beauty is lost to the tyrannical neon of billboards (I think I just wrote an American Sentence entirely without meaning to!)
I think you did..
The moon never seems to complain, even when we fail to notice its presence…
Punishing the Night
Lovely …
very nice….love the effect and the visual…smooth move
You’re intriguing me with these American sentences. I’ll have to read up on that article you mentioned and give it a try. Great work and thanks!
nice…would be cool to find the end of the line….and get out of the city a bit to see the stars again….
I love the silent moon
Very well pictured. Emotions are ignored and so is the universe when we find ourselves lost in the lights of the city. Wonderful haibun and I loved that American sentence.
Very evocative of life in a city! And I’m intrigued with American sentences! Looking forward to them and your haibun this month!
Thank you for introducing the American sentences. I must look into it. Sounds fascinating. Your haibun is evocative.
Oh to have your mind.
This is beautiful … do we appreciate the natural beauty of this world anymore?
Beautiful and so true ~ love the city photo as a reminder ~ Happy New Year to you ~ xxx
Beautifully done, Bjorn
that old devil moon
sometimes it’s just a sliver
and sometimes it’s swell
Cheers!

Ha.. yes the moon is sometimes nothing to swoon about
