Hando’s haiku as an inspiration…
caught by the call
of the flowers and mountain, I forget
how steep the path is
Brought me back to my recent trip to Madeira. The paths are usually not steep, but you are always walking close the abyss.

I have had it so far.. now back in the darkness of winter.
Winter cannot be dark when there is snow on the ground and sparkling, star lit nights 🙂

Actually it is easier to walk UP a steep path, I think, than to make one’s way back down. At least I find it that way!
The paths on Madeira are usually more like shelves… the steepness is on the outside of the path.. but I agree that going down is harder.
Good to know that you had a great trip to Madeira and what a joy to read this haiku inspired on Hando’s haiku and your experience on Madeira. Awesome haiku, would like to use it for one of our upcoming Tan Renga Challenges.
