Carpe Diem haiku special means to write a haiku in the same tone as the selected one by O. Mabson Southard:
across the still lake
through up curls of morning mist –
the cry of a loon
To me the loon has a special place in my heart. It’s wilderness and solitude. I have only seen the loon once, but you can hear it’s sad call for mile.

Oh! A quiet picture… but for the voice of the loon and the echo. Mystic! 🙂
Beautiful haiku ~ love the line….when the loon laments ~ lovely photo and video ~ carol, xo
as his ex chuckles…
There is nothing sadder than calling for one’s mate and hearing only the echo of the call. Poignant. (Thank you for tarn)
I think the loon always sounds sad
It must be nice to experinwthe sound of the Lome.
That sad hinge of loneliness there with the echo intensifying it. Holding the beauty within.
When solitude speaks/ I listen, head bowed/ in silence.
Beautiful. And to know a tarn so well…
That tarn exist in my mind… In Swedish the word is tjärn… but it’s the same.
very moody and nice Björn
Cheers!

Those mocking echoes could be quite annoying, I imagine.
