  1. is the woodsman coming?
are they soon to be canoes?
or is the shore line eroding beneath their roots?

    Cheers!

  2. Trees DO companion one another! We see it here during a severe storm. Trees that are paired off stay standing. The loners are more likely to fall!

  3. At least they’ll have each other on that voyage. Can’t help but feel a little sorry for them though. Seems my neighbor cuts down a tree every week. It’s almost a physical pain to watch. The flow of your haiku is always magical.

  4. this, as so many of your poems are, was simply beautiful. I love thinking of those old friends, (their roots entwined) sailing away and still together.

  5. That first haiku brought a haiku in mind which I wrote several years ago. It was then that I hadn’t found English to write haiku in. It was in my own language Dutch and I have translated it.

    through the years
    two oaks became companions
    sharing their branches

I think it’s very similar with your haiku. Thank you Bjorn for sharing these wonderful haiku with us.
