Today a Carpe Diem haiku prompt is one of Kristjaan’s own haiku.
the cooing of pigeons
between blooming cherry trees –
the cool rain
So many great words to be inspired from. I choose to be a little melancholic here.

Amazing painting again. Bitter rain…can feel that cold.
spring rain is not always gentle…
that Gauguin set the perfect mood for your duet, or is it visa-versa….It’s the crows that awaken me too early
Crows I don’t have, but because daylight come so early here in Sweden even not so the early birds can be a nuiscance
so beautiful on many levels
Thank you 🙂
I always feel cheated when a cold rain storm steals the last few days of cherry blossoms! Bitter, indeed!
And even more bitter in the summer when there’s no cherries.
So lovely and the painting was the perfect accompaniement.
Thank you.
Are pigeons awake so early?
Cooling Raindrops
Not quite yet. Sunrise is 5 AM, but in a few weeks it will be at 4.
I love these both but especially the one about the pigeons at 4 a.m. I am often up very late (I’m a night person) and sometimes I am also woken by the birds. They do all seem to get up at 4 a.m. It is one of the times I can hear by listening. The other is 2 a.m. when there is a racket in the streets because the bars have just closed (I live in a city).
When in June, dusk will go into dawn without any night betwen… we don’t have midnight sun in Stockholm, but it’s a lot of daylight.
Wow, that’s intense.
Too much frost late in the spring does tend to make one bitter!
Enough Showers
The frost in May is what really does it for the early bloom
Perfectly crafted
Thank you 🙂
The Gaugin fits perfect with the rain that tends to topple the blossoms
spring is here
Spring is here… but there is a risk of a setback
Cooing, cool and bloom all fit like a poetry family. I like the extended version too; it breathes.
Thank you 🙂
the feeling of melancholy really cuts across
Spring always have a touch of melancholy that I think rarely come across in poetry. But you captured that perfectly in your haiku too.
I like the first especially. k.
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful
Thank you.-
With a Gauguin masterpiece to lend support it can never be wrong. Great haiku set. Nicely Bjorn!
Hank
Thank you Hank. Yes using the masterpieces of painters makes it easy to create poetry I think.
That first is exquisite.
the one from Kristjaan?
Yes, but your first as well.
Thank you 🙂
